The January meeting of the Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, January 24 at 7 PM with a work session starting at 6:30 pm.

All residents are encouraged to attend and listen to the proceedings monthly.   The meetings last around one hour (some longer, some shorter).

Do you have a concern that you would like to bring to the board, this is the time that is set aside monthly to do just that.  Are you planning some improvements to your property and want to get it approved, then come to the meeting.

The agenda for next weeks meeting includes discussion of the CJ Fire district contract, a request for signage along highway, plan approval to work with the HS Truman Committee, and other items still in the works.   The proposed agenda will be posted outside the municipal building on Friday at 5 pm.

John Chapman (September 26, 1774 – March 18, 1845), better known as Johnny Appleseed, was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced apple trees to large parts of Pennsylvania, Ontario, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, as well as the northern counties of present-day West Virginia. He became an American legend while still alive, due to his kind, generous ways, his leadership in conservation, and the symbolic importance he attributed to apples. He was also a missionary for The New Church (Swedenborgian) and the inspiration for many museums and historical sites such as the Johnny Appleseed Museum in Urbana, Ohio, and the Johnny Appleseed Heritage Center in Ashland County, Ohio. The Fort Wayne TinCaps, a minor league baseball team in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Chapman spent his final years, is named in his honor.

My family and I came across one of his orchards in Petersburg, Illinois on one of our vacations.  It was just a little plot of land with one of those historical sign posts.
